Nestura is built to keep your nights private. This page says exactly what the app and this website do with data, in plain words.

In short
- No account, no ads, and no tracking across apps or websites.
- Anonymous usage statistics only if you allow them (through Mixpanel, on servers in the EU; no name, email or location). Nestura asks once; change your mind any time in Settings → Privacy.
- The microphone is used only for cry response. Audio is analysed on your iPhone and never recorded, stored or sent.
- Your saved mixes sync through your own iCloud. We can't see them.
- Apple handles payments. We never see your card or your Apple Account.
- This website has no cookies, analytics or trackers.

Who we are
Nestura is made by Dhaval Ajitbhai Shah, Gujarat, India, who is responsible for the data described here (the "controller" under the GDPR). Write to privacy@nestura.app with any question about privacy.
No account, no ads, no tracking
Nestura has no sign-in and never asks for your name, email or phone number. It shows no ads and contains no advertising code. We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we don't sell or share data with data brokers. That's why Nestura never shows Apple's "Allow tracking?" prompt.
Anonymous usage statistics
To see which features help and where people get stuck, Nestura can send anonymous usage statistics to Mixpanel, which processes them for us on its servers in the European Union. It only does this if you allow it. Nestura asks once, after you've first heard it, with two equal choices; until you say yes, the statistics software isn't even started, so nothing is stored for it on your iPhone or sent.
What is sent
- What you do in the app, as short events: for example that onboarding was completed, a sound or mix was played and from where (the app, a widget, Siri), the timer was set, Baby mode was opened, cry response was turned on or triggered (as a count), the paywall was shown, or a trial or purchase was made (the plan, not the price).
- Your onboarding choices, such as who's sleeping ("Me", "My baby" or "Both of us"). Your answer to "What keeps you up?" is never sent: it stays on your iPhone, because it could say something about your health.
- Basic facts with each event: the app version, the app's language, your App Store country, the iOS version, the kind of device (iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch), whether you have Plus, and the number of days since you installed Nestura.
- A random ID created on your iPhone when you allow usage statistics, so we can count how many people use a feature without knowing who they are. It isn't your Apple Account, your advertising ID or a hardware ID, and it changes if you delete and reinstall Nestura.
What is never sent
- Your name, email, Apple Account or advertising ID.
- Anything you type, such as the names you give your mixes.
- Your location. Your iPhone's IP address reaches Mixpanel as part of any internet connection, but we've told Mixpanel not to use it to work out where you are, and we never see it.
- Any audio, and your contacts, photos or health data.
Why, and for how long
Because the statistics are tied to a random ID, the law treats them as pseudonymous personal data, not truly anonymous data. So we only collect them with your consent (GDPR article 6(1)(a), and the ePrivacy rules on storing information on your device). We use them only to understand and improve Nestura; they're never used for advertising or combined with other data about you. We keep them for 2 years, then Mixpanel deletes them automatically.
Changing your mind
Open Nestura and go to Settings → Privacy, then switch Share anonymous usage on or off. Switching it off withdraws your consent: Nestura stops sending to Mixpanel and clears what its statistics software kept on your iPhone. Everything in the app works the same either way.
The microphone (cry response)
Cry response is an optional feature in Baby mode. While a baby sound plays, Nestura listens for crying and gently raises the shushing.
- Nestura asks for the microphone only when you turn cry response on, and you can turn it off at any time. While it listens, iOS shows the orange microphone dot.
- The sound is analysed on your iPhone by Apple's built-in sound recognition, a second at a time, and then discarded. It is never recorded, stored or sent anywhere, including to us.
- The only things kept are a short summary of the night on your iPhone (for example "2 stirs, settled in 3 and 5 minutes") and, if usage statistics are on, how many times cry response was triggered.
- Cry response is a soothing aid. It is not a baby monitor and doesn't send alerts.
iCloud
If you're signed in to iCloud, your saved mixes, favourites and some settings sync between your own devices through Apple's iCloud, in your private iCloud storage. They're tied to your Apple Account, not to us, and we can't see or access them. To stop syncing, turn off iCloud for Nestura in your iPhone's Settings. Nothing else depends on iCloud.
Purchases
Nestura Plus is sold through the App Store. Apple handles the payment; we never see your card details, your Apple Account or your billing address. The app receives a confirmation from Apple that you have Plus, so it can unlock it on your devices (including through Family Sharing). Apple's own privacy policy covers the payment.
What stays on your iPhone
Your settings, the morning night log, the timer, the counters that decide when to ask for a rating, and your recent mixes are stored only on your device (or in your own iCloud, as above). Deleting Nestura deletes them from that device.
This website
- nestura.app uses no cookies, no analytics and no trackers, and loads nothing from other companies.
- If you pick a language, your browser remembers it in its own local storage. It never leaves your browser.
- A shared-mix link (nestura.app/mix/…) only describes the sounds and settings in that mix. The page reads it in your browser; we don't store it.
- The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which handles basic request data (such as your IP address) to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks, under its own privacy policy. We don't turn on Cloudflare's analytics or keep any logs ourselves.
Children
Nestura is made for adults and parents. Baby mode is used by a parent for their baby; children don't use the app themselves. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children, and the anonymous statistics don't identify anyone.
Your rights
If you're in the EU, the UK or another country with similar laws, you have the right to ask for access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data about you, to object to its use, and to complain to your data protection authority. Because we never learn who you are, we can't look up statistics by your name or email. The simplest way to stop them is the switch in Settings; deleting and reinstalling Nestura gives you a new random ID. If you'd like help, write to privacy@nestura.app and we'll do what we can.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change matters, for example a new kind of data, we'll also say so in the app's release notes.
